Florals Indoors
It’s been a rough week for everyone. I, for one, really needed some cheer in my life and home. Chicago spring has certainly sprung with temperatures in the 70s this week — which means fresh daffodils around every corner.
I figured it was time to bust out the vases and bring some positive energy into our home this week. Even if you’ve limited time outside your home, you can still bring the florals indoors! Flowers for Dreams is currently offering virtual floral workshops. I love this idea to maintain social distancing, but still honor a bride or mother to be. A virtual flower workshop could also be a great, socially distanced, mother’s day activity.
I picked up most my flowers this week from the grocery store on our last grocery run, Additionally, we grabbed some daffodils from our own backyard. Flowers are a super inexpensive way to spruce up home decor. We all know I’m all about DIY and saving money. Grocery stores, like Trader Joe’s, often sell relatively inexpensive, high quality flowers. ( Brought to you by Barrett Franks Valentine’s Day hot tips™).
Now is also a great time to pick up a new hobby. I, myself, have started a little herb garden in my kitchen. If you want to grow flowers in your home, you can certainly order flower bulbs online. I like American Meadows. They have a huge selection of bulbs to choose from. They also include helpful tips and will insure all plants for the first year. If tulips are more your thing, you can order from Breck’s, which is the largest U.S. importer of tulips from Holland. They have been in business since 1818, and Barrett and I are ordering from them for our front garden.
Lastly, bringing florals inside warrants all the pretty vases. I’m such a sucker for chinoiserie vases, but I’ve tried to brand out on this list. I’m also obsessed with the adorable, whimsical gurgle pot.
Stay safe, stay home, and bring the flowers inside!
