DIY Tub Tray
I’ve spent the last few weeks focused more on self-care than I have in the past. I think the term “self-care” can sound a bit trite, eliciting an eye roll, at times . However, in light of recent events, I think we all deserve to focus a bit more on the ways in which we take care of ourselves.
With that in mind, I’m loving this extremely easy DIY tub tray which functionally brings together all my favorite ways to unwind - hot bath, cold wine, good book, and scented candles. Building this guy was super easy and only cost about $12 to build.
We used 1x6 planks of wood for this project. If you go to Home Depot you can have them cut your wood for you, for free! Just make sure to measure your tub before heading out. We cut the wood to three equal planks about 30 inches long.
We ran two 1x2s along the underside of the tray to secure the planks together. The 1x2’s also act as a little foot on the tray to elevate it further above the surface of the water and edges of the tub.
You can add any optional items like book stand or wine glass holder. We added a wine glass holder to our tray by cutting into the tray, and then drilling a large hole abut 6 inches from the edge.
From there you simply stain and seal! Enjoy a some self-care or give one as a thoughtful and inexpensive gift!
